Man stabs dock worker in Lagos

Man steals vital documents, laptop from Naval officer
A 39-year-old man, identified as Chinedu Okorie, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing a dock worker, Agbabiaka Lateef, in Lagos.

Okorie is facing a one-count charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 11, 2018 at about 10:15pm at no 20, Epe Street, Amukoko, Lagos.

“The defendant unlawfully used a kitchen knife to stab one Agbabiaka Lateef of about 32 years on his right hand armpit which caused him grievous harm,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate A. S Okubule granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till November 19, 2018 for mention.
