Man steals satellite phone onboard vessel

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud

The police, on Thursday, arraigned a 59-year-old man identified as Lucky Osiebe before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a satellite mobile phone onboard a vessel at the Kirikiri area of Lagos. 

Osiebe is facing a one-count charge of stealing. The prosecutor, Inspector Perezi Donjor told the court that the defendant committed the offence between August 27, 2018 and February 21, 2019 while onboard the vessel named MV Laida at Kirikiri waterside.

“The defendant stole one Inmarsat Satellite mobile phone valued at N450,000 property of K.C Holdings Limited, while onboard vessel MV Laida at Kirikiri waterside,” Donjor said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety.

The surety, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till April 1, 2019 for mention.
