A 43-year-old man identified as Ikenna Ozoigbo was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly swindling men seeking security jobs in Dubai of N472,200.
Ozoigbo is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, false pretence and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes on January 12, 2019 at about 11:25am at Bale Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired with one other at large to obtain the total sum of N472,200 properties of the following people; Johnbull Ovibiomo, Michael Ege, Muntari Ibrahim Babaginda, Alozie James and Obe Idika under the pretence to procure security jobs in Dubai knowing fully well to be false,” Inedu said.
He said the offences are punishable under sections 409, 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate M. Owumi granted Ozoigbo bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate said the sureties must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till April 29, 2019 for mention.
