The theme of the conference is Regional Maritime Awareness Capability Systems: A key for Enhancing Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea.
The international event aims at facilitating a complete maritime domain awareness of Nigeria’s maritime environment including the Gulf of Guinea and the need to protect it.
Expanded economic activities in the Gulf of Guinea, according to the NN, has given rise to renewed interest within the region since the region depends solely on the sea for transportation, food, trade, energy and capital, all of which are essential ingredients of National security.
Key stakeholders in the maritime industry and all Nigeria’s service chiefs were at the opening of the conference.
