National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Eugene Nweke, has urged the Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC) as it strives to reform the freight forwarding industry, to collaborate with the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) for the development of the nation’s export sector.
Nweke, during an exclusive chat with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, said that the over-dependency on importation does not bode well for the Nigerian economy and calls for the port regulator to encourage partnership with relevant stakeholders in the export sector.
He said that with the right financial backing, freight forwarders can contribute significantly to export promotion in Nigeria.
Nweke said that freight forwarders are open to diversification and can engage not only in import but also the export aspect of international trade.
He said that his association has intensified training for its members to expose them to the viable opportunities in the sector and to the significance of embracing electronic transactions in facilitating trade.
