Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has flagged off Operation Tsare Teku, yet another Nigerian Navy anti-piracy special operation in Warri, Delta state, base of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, Delta.
The CNS only in December 12 last year flagged off Operation Eagle Eye in Warri under the Central Naval Command which has been followed by Operation River Sweep I and II, all geared towards curbing oil theft and all forms of maritime crimes.
Commodore Joseph Akpan, Commander, Task Group of Tsare Teku IV said, “Today’s exercise has its merit and mandate. It places a demand to build on the phases one to three.Tsare Teku 4 Task Group include ships, helicopters and other platform to combat maritime crimes between16 Jan – 15 July 2017.”
Represented by Rear Admiral Adeniyi Oshinowo, Chief of Training & Operations on the occasion, the CNS said, “The outcome of these operations brings to the fore other issues, like dislodgment of oil theft and illegal refining structures, giving impetus to others interests in piracy and other issues, a pointer that whatever has been done has yielded results with other consequences navy will continue to deal with.”
