Factional President of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), Chief Festus Ejiofor, was on Wednesday arrested by policemen attached to the Tin Can Island Port division of the Western Port Police Command, Lagos.
Ejiofor was arrested on the allegation of forgery of the NCMDLCA membership certificate. He was arraigned at the Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos, yesterday on a two-count charge of forgery after spending a night in police cell.
After pleading not guilty to the charges, he was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Crisis erupted in the NCMDLCA in 2009 when a faction led by Ejiofor said it had removed the council’s National President, Mr. Lucky Amiwero from office. Amiwero, however, claimed that Ejiofor and his supporters were not members of the council.
