Niger State to train 150 youths at NMU, MAN

The Niger State Government on Tuesday said it will facilitate the training of 150 youths in the state at the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko in Delta State and Nigeria Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

This is to enable the youths take advantage of the soon to be inaugurated Baro River Port in Niger State.

Chairman House Committee on Maritime Education, Safety and Administration, Rep Umar Bago (APC, Chanchaga) who made this known in an interview with reporters in Minna said the state is embarking on the training to ensure that youths in the state qualify for jobs in the maritime industry.

Bago praised the Federal Government for establishing Baro River Port, adding that when it becomes fully operational, the port would further compliment others in driving the economy of the country.

He said the Federal Government is trying to link Minna to Abuja with rail from Baro River Port, adding that with the establishment of dry ports by the Shippers Council, the subsector would soon come alive.
