The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it has begun deploying B’odogwu, a digital platform designed to facilitate 24-hour cargo clearance at the nation’s seaports.
Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of ICT, Kikelomo Adeola, announced this on Monday during a meeting with terminal operators from Tincan and Apapa Ports.
She emphasised that the ongoing Customs modernisation project aims to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency across Nigerian ports.
Adeola commended the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) for supporting the initiative by providing infrastructure at Tincan and Apapa Ports, reinforcing Nigeria’s capacity to handle high trade volumes efficiently.
“We are preparing for the deployment of newly procured non-intrusive inspection equipment to various ports in 2025 to enhance the cargo inspection process,” she stated.
She also highlighted the importance of capacity building for stakeholders, assuring that training efforts would continue until at least 90% proficiency in using B’odogwu is achieved.
Adeola further revealed that 20 banks have already registered on the B’odogwu platform.
She described it as a centralised system that allows seamless integration, including password management and potential linkage to the National Single Window, which will enhance accessibility for all stakeholders.
