The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday said the country has recorded 196 new cases of COVID-19 infections.
This brings the total number of coronavirus infections in Africa’s most populous nation to 1,728.
NCDC said the new cases were recorded in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to NCDC 87 new cases were recorded in Lagos; 24 in Kano; 18 in Gombe; 17 in Kaduna; 16 in FCT and 10 in Katsina. Others are Sokoto – 8; Edo – 7 and Borno – 6. Yobe, Ebonyi and Adamawa recorded one new case each.
“As at 11:55pm 29th April – 1728 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 307; deaths: 51,” NCDC stated on its tweeter handle.
