The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has donated specialised adjustable dental chairs to the General Hospital in Apapa, a move aimed at improving access to oral treatment for residents and maritime workers in the busy Apapa corridor.
Presenting the equipment on behalf of the Council’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Pius Akutah, Director of Special Duties Moses Abere said the gesture reflected the council’s commitment to initiatives that directly enhance Nigerians’ wellbeing.
He emphasised that reliable access to quality healthcare is a cornerstone of sustainable community development, particularly in host communities that support critical national infrastructure such as ports and logistics hubs.
The hospital’s Medical Director, Lateefat Agbaje, described the intervention as both timely and transformative, noting that the new dental chairs would significantly upgrade the facility’s dental unit.
Agbaje said the added capacity would allow clinicians to treat more patients efficiently, ease persistent overcrowding and shorten the long waiting times that many residents have endured in seeking oral care.
