The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Bank of Industry (BOI) have commenced discussions on strategies to enhance capacity building in the Nigerian maritime sector.
This initiative aims to grow the sector and actualize the Federal Government’s vision to reposition it, particularly with the creation of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
During a visit by a BOI team led by Executive Director of Large Enterprises, Mrs. Ifeoma Uz’Okpala, NIMASA’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola (represented by Executive Director Jibril Abba), emphasized the agency’s commitment to collaboration and capacity development.
Mobereola stated, “In addition to safety, security, and maritime labor, our mandate encompasses capacity development aimed at growing the sector.”
Uz’Okpala affirmed BOI’s readiness to support NIMASA, highlighting the importance of collaboration in implementing a robust capacity-building initiative that will contribute to economic growth in Nigeria.
