In a significant humanitarian gesture, the management and staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) have extended their support to the victims of the recent devastating floods in Borno State.
The NPA donated a sum of ₦200 million to aid recovery efforts for the affected communities.
In a letter signed by NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the authority expressed solidarity with the people of Borno, acknowledging the severe impact of the floods on lives and livelihoods.
“The Nigerian Ports Authority stands with Borno State during this devastating occurrence that has resulted in huge losses and disruption of lives and livelihoods,” Dantsoho wrote.
“As a token of support for your disaster relief efforts, the Nigerian Ports Authority, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, hereby donates the sum of ₦200 million to aid efforts at stabilizing the victims as quickly as possible.”
The donation was presented to the Governor of Borno State on Friday, September 20, 2024, in Maiduguri by a team from the NPA, which included the Executive Director of Engineering & Technical Services, Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar, Executive Director of Finance & Administration, Ms. Vivian Richard Edet, and Executive Director of Marine & Operations, Engr. Olalekan Badmus.
