NPA Managing Director Abu Dantsoho Sets Sights on Port Infrastructure

In his first 24 hours in office, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has made it clear that revitalising the country’s dilapidated port infrastructure is his top priority.

During an unscheduled visit to the Tin Can Island Port Complex in Lagos on Tuesday, Dantsoho emphasised the need for efficient services at the nation’s seaports, stressing that this can only be achieved through collaboration with relevant stakeholders and investment in adequate port infrastructure.

With a clear mandate from President Bola Tinubu to deliver efficient port services and improved industry outcomes, Dantsoho is confident that the NPA can make a significant impact.

He said: “With the backing we have from the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola CON, I want to assure stakeholders that the long-talked-about reconstruction of Tin Can Ports Complex will move from rhetoric to action.”

Dantsoho highlighted the importance of sound infrastructure in achieving port competitiveness, pledging to deliver the necessary infrastructure to meet Nigeria’s domestic cargo needs and those of its landlocked neighbouring countries.
