The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority Mallam Habib Abdullahi has said the organisation will welcome the infusion of Japanese advanced technology in critical areas of infrastructural development at the port.
Speaking last week when receiving a Japanese delegation, Abdullahi, who was represented by the General Manager Capital Projects, Engr. Rufai Mohammed, said NPA would “expeditiously list out technical and infrastructural needs of the organisation”, since the Japanese government through the visitor has promised to assist it.
He said NPA was involved in massive infrastructural renewal projects including the renovation of its headquarters as well as quay length rehabilitation in Onne, Warri and Lagos ports.
According to him, the organisation’s 25 years development plan, which would be a compendium of proposed developmental projects, would soon be ready.
Abdullahi said NPA had benefited in training programmes organised by the Japanese government in the past.
Earlier in his speech on behalf of the Japanese delegation, the section Manager of Urban and Transportation Planning Group of the Yachiyo Engineering Company Limited, Yasuhiro Yamauchi said the Japanese government was ready to partner with NPA in particular and Nigeria in general especially in the area of technical abilities that would be useful for different projects in the country.
