The Great Amazons Association, an esteemed group of professional women who retired from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at management levels, recently held a series of end-of-year luncheons to mark the close of 2024.
The events were held in multiple locations including Lagos, Abuja, Warri, and Port Harcourt, bringing together members to celebrate their achievements and reinforce their commitment to the association’s goals.
The luncheons were graced by prominent figures within the association, including the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Aina Egharevba, the founder, Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim and the President, Mrs. Ann Ukpong. Members of the Board of Trustees, executives, and other distinguished members also attended, making the events a grand success.
The Great Amazons Association was established with the mission to provide opportunities for its members to update their knowledge and acquire new skills for self-improvement and societal welfare. It aims to protect its members from social injustice, discrimination, and exploitation while extending support in times of need. Additionally, the association fosters a sense of community where members can share matters of common interest and work together to enhance the quality of life for all involved.
Reflecting on the association’s journey and future, Ms. Aina Egharevba, who served as NPA’s Executive Director, Marine and Operations from 2007 to 2011, stated, “Our commitment to empowering one another and giving back to society remains unwavering. These gatherings serve as a reminder of the strength we possess collectively and the significant impact we can make when we stand together. The Great Amazon Association is more than just a network; it is a sisterhood that uplifts and supports each other in every way possible.”
The luncheons provided an opportunity for members to reflect on the year’s challenges and triumphs while reinforcing their dedication to the association’s mission.
Ms Egharevba said as its members look forward to the coming year, the Great Amazons Association remains steadfast in its commitment to personal and professional development, social justice, and community support.
