The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers of Nigeria (NUPENG) on Thursday resumed full loading of petroleum products at Dockyard, Apapa Lagos.
The loading was halted on Wednesday after a tanker allegedly killed a Navy officer on Dockyard road.
South-West Chairman of NUPENG, Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, confirmed that calm had returned to the depot following discussion between NUPENG and naval authorities.
“We have started full loading of petroleum products this morning (yesterday) after sorting out and appealing to the Navy authorities.
“Every truck driver has been collecting the products and moving to their locations,” he said.
However, Cdr Kabir Aliyu, Director, Information, Naval Command, Lagos, said that the case had been transferred to Area 2 Police Command for further action.
“I cannot say anything on the matter because it has been transferred to the police.
“But l can confirm to you that our officer was hit by a truck driver and died on the spot.
“The deceased had been buried according to Muslim rites,” he said.
Taofeek Lawal, Head, Media Affairs, NIPCO, one of the depots in Dockyard, confirmed that loading operations had resumed.
The officer was killed in accident with a tanker driver.
