It was mayhem along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway yesterday as riders of commercial motorcycle popularly known as okada expressed their grievance against officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The motorcyclists were seen along Tincan-Coconut area of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in their large numbers wielding machetes and sticks to threatening to attack any police officer within view.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered from the aggrieved motorcyclists that they were aggrieved over the killing of one their colleagues and the shooting of another by police officers.
One of the protesting motorcyclists who identified himself as Habib said: “We cannot take this again. This is too much. Is it not enough that they are always pursuing and demanding money from us? Last week they carried my okada and I paid N7,000 to bail it. How much do I make in a week? The other day trailer almost crushed one of us because he was running away from them. Now they have succeeded in killing one of us. If I see opportunity I will retaliate.”
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY correspondent witnessed the motorcyclists flagging down and searching commercial buses allegedly for policemen.
