Pirates kidnap ship crew in Gulf of Guinea

The crew of a tanker ship have been kidnapped off the southern coast of Cameroon in the Gulf of Guinea, security firm Dryad Global said.

The Master and Chief Engineer of the ship were reportedly abducted by pirates in the region on New Year’s Day.

Details of the boarding of the 13,000 dwt Hana I tanker, which is registered with Tuvalu, are limited, though security firm Dryad Global said the vessel was boarded around 45 nautical miles due south of the island of Bioko.
The vessel is owned by a Singapore-headquartered agribusiness group which also operates a fleet of dry and liquid bulk ships.
