Police arraign man for stabbing spare parts car dealer

A 19-year-old man, identified as Idowu Ayodele, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a spare parts car dealer with broken bottle in Lagos.

Ayodele is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 21, 2019 at about 10:30am at No 26, Shaibu Street, Maza-Maza, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to unlawfully assault one Chidi Orji by using broken bottle to stab him on his back and other parts of his body which caused him bodily harm,” Salami said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei granted him N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till August 13, 2019 for mention.
