Commissioner of Police in charge of Western Port, Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro Harrison, has commended the Customs Area Controller, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Comptroller Frances Enwereuzor, for creating the Joint Traffic Control Taskforce.
The taskforce which include personnel of the Nigerian Police, Customs, Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) and NUPENG, was set up by Comptroller Enwereuzor when Harrison assumed duty at the command, to help control the persistent traffic gridlock in the area.
Speaking when she paid a courtesy visit to the Controller’s office on recently, Mrs. Ibifuro- Harrison expressed appreciation to the Controller for the synergy created between the KLT police division, Customs and other regulatory agencies to ease the traffic situation on the road accessing the terminal.
She said:” I want to thank the Controller for supporting us to do our work.”
Responding, Comptroller Enwereuzor thanked the commissioner for the visit even as she stressed the importance of synergizing with stakeholders and other regulatory agencies.
She said the patrol van recently donated to the police by Royal Salt firm would also go a long way in assisting the taskforce reduce the traffic gridlock along the access road.
Her words: “When I came to KLT, there was no taskforce in place and because of the traffic situation on that bridge, we had to create one. Anytime I pass on that bridge, I just wonder what will happen to officers that come to work and how people who live here go about their business. But with the taskforce, that is history now, because I know the benefit of synergizing with other stakeholders and with other departmental agencies and this we did, which is yielding fruits today,”
She lauded the company for the gesture and called on other companies to emulate same.
