Samsung Heavy Industries Co., the world’s third largest shipbuilder by orders, said Monday it has received an oil tanker order from a Singaporean company.
The South Korean shipbuilder said in a statement that it won the order to build a 152,700-deadweight-ton Suezmax shuttle tanker for AET Tankers Pte Ltd.
Citing a confidentiality agreement with the shipper, the company didn’t provide the contract’s value or the timeframe for the completion of AET’s request.
Samsung Heavy has so far secured US$3.7 billion won worth of orders to build 34 ships this year.
