Security officer docked for stealing N3.95m at Kirikiri

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 27-year-old security officer, Okeychukwu John Arinze, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N3,949,872 at Kirikiri.

Arinze is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between April 19, 2019 and April 23, 2019 at Kirikiri.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to fraudulently steal the sum of N3,949,872 property of one Joseph Igwe Ogboji,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Owoyemi Tiamiyu granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till July 22, 2019 for mention.
