China’s Shanghai port has recorded high container throughput in August compared to the year-ago period, according to data from Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).
The Chinese port moved 3.31m teu in August, an increase of 6.5% from 3.11m teu in the previous corresponding period, figures from SIPG showed.
Shanghai port also saw improvement to its box volumes on a month-on-month comparison, rising from 3.27m teu handled in July.
From January to August 2016, the world’s busiest container port achieved a total throughput of 24.47m teu, marginally higher than 24.25m teu registered in the same period of 2015.
