An Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has granted N20,000 bail on six motorcyclists; Lawrence Luka (22), Yisa Mama (31), Bakman Yerima (30), Musa Ibrahim (21), Shaibu Ibrahim (24) and Mustapher Bukra (24), after they were arraigned for allegedly disobeying the lawful order of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by riding their motorcycles within the port premises.
The accused were granted bail by the Magistrate, Mrs O. Alaka.
They were also required by the court to produce a surety each. The surety must be gainfully employed and also show evidence of tax payment.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty. But the prosecutor insisted that the defendants committed the offence on December 20, 2016 between 6am and 1pm on the access road at Tin Can Island Port premises in the Apapa Magisterial District.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 123 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State .
The case has been adjourned to January 17, 2017 for mention.
