Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and and Citizens Against Fake and Adulterated Products (CAFAP) have started sensitising the public about the influx of fake glue products in the market. To this end, there is an onslaught against importers and marketers of these fake glue products, following an order granted a local glue manufacturer by a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State.
With the order, SON, law enforcement agents and CAFAP have been raiding premises and shops stocking fake products.
According to Ifeanyi Dike, a representative of Alteco, the action is already yielding results as shops and warehouses have been raided in markets located in Aba, Onitsha and Lagos, while more raids would be intensified in other locations.
“More raids will be carried out because with this order, Alteco 110 is permitted by law to raid and confiscate super glue brands manufactured in the guise of the Alteco 110 band.
“I implore traders who do not want to lose money to desist from throwing in their money in such products, which come under names like Aldego, Sunset , Aldaco, all sorts.
“They not only faked the product, but also copied the designs and packaging just to deceive unsuspecting customers who buy less quality and quantity,” he said.
Applauding the court order, Chidi Mba, of CAFAP said the group will work with SON to ensure that unscrupulous traders would no longer get away with lawlessness.
