The Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations (SSACTAC) has called for a halt to whatever plans to further commercialise and concession the duties of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
In his “fraternal message” On the occasion of the May Day Wednesday, the SSACTAC President-General, Comrade Adetunji Adesunkanmi, said that “the Association advises Government to ignore the pressure from well placed but unpatriotic citizens to satisfy their selfish interests by advocating the further concessioning of duties of the Nigerian Ports Authority.”
Felicitating “with all Nigerians, especially the workers on this august occasion marking the May Day and the centenary of our great nation, Nigeria,” the SSACTAC boss said: “The May Day brings to memory the cont ributions of the workforce whose sweat and blood create the wealth of the world. The day is a deserving commemoration that these contributions can and will never be in vain.

“We owe a duty to the Almighty God, ourselves and other Nigerians to speak out on the state of our nation’ and the workforce in Nigeria.
“It is important that on a general note that the leadership make serious amendments on the distribution of resources, education, health and agriculture policies to tackle the endemic issues of insecurity, poverty, unemployment and corruption in Nigeria.
“The seeming inability to deploy sufficient funds where necessary and failure to monitor the deployment of funds seriously aid corruption and the inability to develop infrastructure in all sectors.”
