Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT) in Apapa has successfully trained 250 staff members in the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt methodology as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance operational excellence and develop its workforce.
The certification, recognised globally for improving processes and quality, aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement by eliminating process waste and reducing variability.
Tai Fadipe-Davids, TICT’s Head of Process Excellence, emphasised that this training was a critical step in aligning the team with the company’s goal of boosting efficiency and contributing to the broader maritime sector in Nigeria.
“With the maritime industry becoming more competitive, we are committed to improving our organizational efficiency. Lean Six Sigma offers a systematic approach to help us achieve this,” Fadipe-Davids said.
He highlighted the importance of understanding Lean Six Sigma principles, tools, and customer-focused strategies as foundational steps in TICT’s Process Excellence journey.
Etienne Rocher, Country Managing Director of AGL (Tincan Island Container Terminal’s parent company), noted that TICT continuously seeks ways to optimize its operations.
“We are adopting global tools to streamline our processes. This training is part of our larger process excellence initiative, which will foster a stronger collaborative culture and enhance the services we offer to our clients,” Rocher stated.
TICT, the operator of Terminal B at Tincan Island Port in Apapa, Lagos, is part of Africa Global Logistics, a leading multimodal logistics operator across the continent.
