The Tin can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it collected N26.3billion as revenue in April. This is against the N19 billion it realized in the corresponding period of last year.
Spokesman of the command, Chris Osunkwo told SHIPS&PORTS DAILY at the weekend that the amount is unprecedented in the history of the command.
He attributed the increase to the quality leadership of the Area Controller, Comptroller Zakari Jubril and dedication to duty of the Dispute Resolution Committee recently set up to address complaints arising from the issuance of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR).
According to statistics obtained by SHIPS&PORTS DAILY, the command also generated N58.9 billion between January and March as against N50.2billion it collected in the corresponding period of 2013.
Meanwhile, of the 40 Deputy Comptrollers serving at the command, 25 have been redeployed to various commands within and outside the Lagos zone.
It was gathered that the redeployment may also affect Assistant Controllers numbering about 60 presently serving at the command.
The redeployment, it was learnt followed the rcent promotion exercise in the NCS.
