The Tin-Can Island Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) collected the sum of N716.5 billion as revenue in 2023, even as it said its revenue target for 2024 is N1.13 trillion.
The command’s Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, disclosed this to newsmen during a press briefing on Tuesday.
He said the N716.5 billion realised by the command in 2023 represents about 89 per cent of its N810.5 billion revenue target for the year.
Comptroller Nnadi also said that approximately 623,695 tons of goods worth over N3.8 billion were handled as exports last year.
He said year 2024 has been declared as “the year of stakeholders” to “reciprocate the love we receive from them”.
“We would devote our time to encourage the compliant ones but deal with the non-compliant ones,” he said.
Comptroller Nnadi also said that the command will engage the National Trade Facilitation Committee to conduct a Time Release Study at Tin-Can Island Port to optimise operational preparedness and enhance the technical capacity of its officers.
