Truck assistant docked for assaulting police

A 25-year-old truck assistant otherwise known as motor boy, Ibrahim Adiatulahi has been arraigned at the Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a police inspector, Agegenu Peter. 

The motor boy pleaded not guilty to the four-count charges brought against him yesterday by the Police. 

The offences bothered on conspiracy, obstruction, assault and causing injury.

The Police Prosecutor told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 12, 2017 at about 7:10am on the port access road at Mr Biggs Junction in the Apapa Magisterial district.

He explained that the motor boy obstructed one police inspector attached to the Ports Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while executing his lawful duty. 

With the intent to prevent a lawful arrest, Adiatulahi allegedly assaulted the Police officer by using a big wood to hit him on the head, causing deep injury.

The offences, according to the Prosecutor, contravened sections 409, 112, 171 (b) and 172 (a), (b), (f) criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. 

She adjourned the case till May 11, 2017 for mention.
