Abdulahi is facing a three-count charge of dangerous driving, manslaughter and unlawful damage of a car and a motorcycle.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 2, 2019 by 11 a.m. at Pako Market, along Maza-Maza, Old Ojo Road, Lagos.
“The defendant being the driver in charge of Iveco head truck with registration number APP 23 XJ drove same on a public highway in a dangerous manner, having no regard to all the circumstance,” Tedunjaye said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant drove the vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner and caused the death of one Yakubu Muhammed age 56 years.
Tedunajaye added that the defendant caused damage to one TVS motorcycle with registration number MUS 674 QF property of one Muhammed Lawal and also damaged one Honda Pilot Jeep wit registration number FST 153 CV property of one Nnajofor Edward of 21 Road by ‘L’ Close, Festac Town, Lagos.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 29 (1), 20 and 20 (1) of Road Traffic Act Cap 124 Vol 5 of Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Magistrate B.M Amore ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison pending an advice by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
He adjourned the matter until May 6, 2019 for mention.
