A 38-year-old truck driver, Adesoji Ajibade, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 46 bags of sesame seeds in Apapa.
Ajibade is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 19, 2018 along Creek Road, Apapa, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal 46 bags of sesame seeds valued at N1,840,000 property of Benlad Mutilinks Ltd,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till December 13, 2018 for mention.
