661 Rifles: Customs declares another officer wanted

Barely 24 hours after two officers it declared wanted over importation of 661 pump-action rifles in Lagos surrendered, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has declared another officer wanted.

The officers who were declared wanted on Tuesday but who surrendered to the Customs authorities on Wednesday are Abdullahi I and Odiba Haruna Inah.

However, the Customs Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Dan Ugo, on Thursday issued a new order declaring one Yola Babakiri Ibrahim wanted.

According to Ugo; Yola Babakiri Ibrahim is a Chief Supritendent of Customs with service number 39009.

Ugo requested that the officer should be arrested wherever he is seen and taken to the nearest Customs formation.

On Monday, officials of the NCS uncovered 49 boxes in a mark truck with registration number BUG 265 XG, in the Mile 2 area axis of Lagos.

The weapons were concealed in the boxes.

Customs Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali, had vowed that the officials who cleared the firearms from the port would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
