Osinbajo rushes back home from Davos as Buhari begins another medical trip

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has cut short his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, by a day, as a result of the medical vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari to the UK.

Osinbajo led Nigeria’s delegation to the forum, and was supposed to return to the country on Friday. But he will now arrive a day earlier.

Buhari left the country on Thursday, and is expected to undergo a medical checkup.

He had transmitted a letter to the Senate, seeking a 10-day leave.

Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, had said everything was in place to ensure that Osinbajo holds the fort until the president’s return.

This is the third time Buhari will be travellng to the UK medical attention, less than two years after assuming office.

The Presidency has consistently dismissed reports that Buhari is medically unfit to lead the country.
