Seme Customs boss commends enforcement unit’s onslaught against smugglers

The Area Controller, Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, has commended the enforcement unit of the command for the spike in seizures of smuggled goods in recent weeks.

Uba who disclosed this on Friday said that as a result of the renewed onslaught of the unit against smugglers, the command arrested seven suspects in connection with smuggling activities within Seme border communities.

He said, “Our Enforcement Unit, headed by the Deputy Comptroller of Enforcement, DC Adhaunse, is working tirelessly to protect our economic environment at Seme axis from influx of prohibited goods.

“We are implementing the fiscal policies of the Federal Government. As such, we will seize any item that is banned and forfeit such item to government”.

The customs boss stressed that the command will continue to carry out enforcement operations in accordance with the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA).
