163 ships on order at China CSSC

Shanghai-listed shipbuilder China CSSC Holdings said that it has secured 61 ship orders totaling in 8.99 million DWT capacity in 2014.

The company’s orderbook was worth CNY 8.04 billion (around USD 1.20 bln) as at December 31, 2014, up 58.99% from the year start, the shipbuilder said in a stock exchange filing.

CNY 4.7 billion had been received as at May 31, 2015,  China CSSC Holdings added.

The company has 163 vessels under construction at the moment, amounting to 20.57 million dwt, and ten offshore engineering platforms in total.

China’s shipbuilding industry posted 18.9 % growth year-on-year in the aggregate shipbuilding output in the first five months, data of the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) shows.

At the end of May, Chinese yards had 138.1 dwt on order down 8.2 pct year on year.
