The suspected kidnappers, described by sources as Niger Delta militants, who abducted the immediate past President of the Maritime Arbitrators of Nigeria (MAAN), Mrs. Adedoyin Rhodes-Vivour, and two others on May 10, 2013, in Edo State, have released the trio unharmed in neighbouring Delta State.
Impeccable sources informed SHIPS & PORTS DAILY that Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour, her daughter, and her driver were released Tuesday in Sapele, exactly 18 days after their abduction.
An elated Supreme Court Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, it was learnt, had immediately travelled to Sapele to be re-united with his wife and daughter.
It would be recalled that SHIPS & PORTS DAILY had earlier reported exclusively that the abductors of the two Rhodes-Vivours and their driver had demanded for a ransom of N200 million from the Rhodes-Vivour family.
Impeccable sources close to the Rhodes-Vivour family had informed SHIPS & PORTS DAILY of the ransom demand by the kidnappers.
However, it was not clear, as at press time, if any ransom had been paid to earn the release of the kidnapped persons.
Rhodes-Vivour was kidnapped along with her daughter and driver that fateful Friday evening on the stretch of the Lagos-Benin Road.
The Lagos-based lawyer and the other two victims were on their way to Benin, the Edo State capital, for a wedding.
