21 migrants missing, two infants dead on trip from Libya to Italy

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday has declared 21 migrants missing, after two boats, a rubber dinghy and a wooden boat, set off from Libya for Italy and were rescued.

IOM spokesman Joel Millman told a regular U.N. briefing in Geneva that all 132 people on the rubber dinghy had been rescued, but 21 persons were still missing from the 51 on the wooden boat.

Millman also added that two dead infants had been reportedly discovered on board, bringing the likely death toll to 23.
