If you’re importing goods into Nigeria, ensure to obtain the following documents, which will be required to clear your consignment at the port upon arrival:
Form M: This is issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria through commercial banks for import permit procedures. The form states the product’s Harmonized Codes for Customs duty, the amount and other basic information.
Insurance certificate: You may approach any reputable insurance company for this certificate to cover loss or damage during shipment. Insurance is compulsory for import and export.
Bill of Lading: This is issued by the shipping company transporting the goods from the port of loading to the port of destination.
Commercial or proforma invoice: It is always issued by the seller or shipper of the goods.
