A South Korean-flagged ship has capsized off the coast of Yamaguchi prefecture in western Japan, with seven people confirmed dead.
The ship, a chemical tanker named Keoyoung Sun, was anchored due to bad weather and requested assistance when it began titling over after 7am local time on Wednesday, according to local Japanese media reports.
The vessel had 11 crew aboard, out of which seven have been confirmed dead, with rescue operations ongoing for the remaining.
The ill-fates ship was reportedly carrying 980 tonnes of acrylic acid, but no spillage has been detected, officials said.
