No fewer than nine people reportedly died in an explosion that happened on Sunday at an oil depot (tank farm) in Calabar, Cross River State.
The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, Hafiz Inuwa, who confirmed the explosion, said in addition to those who lost their lives, several others sustained injuries in the explosion which occurred at Linc Oil and Gas tank farm around the Calabar Free Port.
Inuwa said investigation was underway to unravel the cause of the explosion.
Several officials of government agencies were seen at the site of the explosion trying to contain the fire that resulted from the explosion.
