9 men docked for stealing motor part in Lagos

Nine men were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one part of Totoya Venza in Lagos.

The nine men are Lucky Daniel (21), Ogene Otega (19), Chigemegu Obiora (19), Micheal Nwale (35), Oluchukwu Orama (35), Daniel Ani (21), Ifeanyi Nwachukwu (22), Sunday Oghenecaro (18) and Onyebuchi Eze (23). They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 28, 2019 at about 8pm at Mile 2, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired together to steal one roof chrome from one Toyota Venza valued at N58,000 property of one Ajele Abeiyi,” Ogbongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Ayisha Grillo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum. Each surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of one year tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till June 17, 2019 for mention
