A 31-year-old man, Onyejekwe Nonso, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a gold necklass worth N1 million and $4,000 cash in Lagos.
Nonso is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 20, 2019 at about 2pm at 4th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired with others at large to unlawfully assault one Chukwuka Prosper which caused him bodily harm and stole a gold necklass valued at N1 million and $4,000 cash properties of Chukwuka Prosper,” Babatope said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 173 and 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Enitan Ojudun granted him N250,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till August 6, 2019 for mention.
