The police on Tuesday arraigned one Ade Oriyomi (35) before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging one barge valued at N80 million at Third Mainland Bridge area of Lagos.
Oriyomi is facing a one-count charge of unlawful damage.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 1, 2019 at about 7:30am.
“The defendant wilfully and unlawfully damaged one SUKUNU 1 Barge valued at N80 million property of Sukunu Hyra Base Concept Limited under the control of V.O. Uti General Merchandise,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 351 (c) (ii) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Magistrate Enitan Ojudun granted him bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till October 3, 2019 for mention.
