An Apapa Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos, on Wednesday remanded two men in prison for allegedly stealing a Samsung phone valued at N150,000 at Amukoko, Lagos.
The duo, Moses Jayelola (24) and Chibueze Orji (36), is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fred Asu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on December 8, 2019 at about 2:30am at Amukoko Ojo Cementary Road, Amukoko.
“The defendants conspired together to threaten one Jimoh Idris with cutlass and knife and collected one Samsung handset valued at N150,000 and cash sum of N25,000 from him,” Asu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate M.O Olubi ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Correctional Home pending the Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) advice.
He adjourned the matter till January 15, 2020 for mention.
