In furtherance of its ongoing “Operation Water Guard”, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft has intercepted 72 bags of Cannabis Sativa, each weighing 40 kilograms, along Elegushi area of Lekki, Lagos State.
The Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Rafiu Oladejo made this known on Tuesday while briefing newsmen.
He said the contraband was intercepted on June 5 2024 by NNS Beecroft quick response team and the deep blue assets team of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
He warned perpetrators of illicit drugs to desist from such acts as his team will not rest on its oars in pursuing all criminal elements operating within its area of operation.
He said the seized drugs will be handed over to the officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
