The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, chaired the 60th regular board meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the newly built NCS headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The meeting marked a significant milestone as the first to be held at the new headquarters, commissioned by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Minister Edun, also the Chairman of the NCS Board, expressed satisfaction with the board’s quarterly meetings, emphasising their importance in corporate governance and achieving the agency’s objectives. He praised the integrity and transparency of Customs Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi and the board’s commitment to excellence.
Edun highlighted the value of collaboration between ministries and the private sector, noting that the NCS Board comprises representatives from various ministries and the organised private sector. This, he said, ensures thorough discussion and timely implementation of critical national issues.
As the first Minister and NCSB Chairman to chair a meeting at the new headquarters, Edun commended the Customs Service on this achievement.
“I congratulate the Nigeria Customs Service on this achievement of not just building a new edifice, but actually moving into it, making use of it, and keeping it very neat and tidy, and I pray for the success of all those who work at the new facility. Edun said.
