The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria, AMDON, Kebbi State Chapter has expressed deep outrage over the alleged killing of one of its members, Tukur Salihu, aged 45, by operatives of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B Kaduna, attached to Kebbi State.
The association described the incident as shocking and unacceptable. According to a statement issued yesterday by the Secretary of the association, Shehu Bunza, the incident occurred on 7 February 2026 between 11 a.m. and noon along the Nagari College to Illela-Yari axis within the Birnin Kebbi metropolis. He said the killing represents a grim reminder of the rising cases of alleged extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses in Kebbi State and across the country.
Bunza stated that AMDON views the incident as a deliberate and unwarranted use of force that has created fear, panic and deep concern among its members and the wider Kebbi community.
He noted that the association was particularly disturbed that the incident took place in broad daylight, adding that the alleged perpetrators appeared to have acted with impunity and complete disregard for the sanctity of human life.
He said the Kebbi State Chapter of AMDON strongly condemns the killing and has called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The association also urged the Kebbi State Government to take decisive steps to guarantee justice and protect the rights of the deceased and his family.
According to the statement, the deceased was rushed to hospital following the incident but later died around midnight. He was subsequently buried in his hometown of Argungu. The late Tukur Salihu is survived by two wives, seven children, and his elderly parents.
The association extended its condolences to the family, praying that Allah grants them the strength to bear the painful loss. It further called on the Nigeria Customs Service to immediately investigate the incident and take concrete measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
AMDON also demanded that the Kebbi State Government provide adequate compensation and support to the family of the deceased, while ensuring that such incidents do not recur.
In addition, the association appealed to the National Human Rights Commission, the Nigerian Bar Association, and other human rights organisations to take up the matter and pursue justice to its logical conclusion.
