The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over 22 packages of suspected cocaine weighing about 25 kilograms and valued at N1 billion to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos.
The illicit consignment, along with a male suspect and a Toyota Highlander used to transport the drugs, was intercepted in the early hours of February 10, 2026, along the Badagry-Seme axis.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi — represented at the handover ceremony at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A by Deputy Comptroller-General (Enforcement), Timi Bomodi — said the suspect, identified as Adeniran Aliyu, was arrested while conveying the drugs from Ghana.
Adeniyi noted that the seizure was made under Section 55(1)(c) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, which empowers Customs to enforce import and export restrictions to protect public health and national security.
Receiving the exhibits, NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command Commander, Abubakar Liman Wali, commended Customs for the seizure, describing it as a testament to strengthened cooperation between the two agencies.
Wali assured that the suspect and the seized substances would undergo thorough investigation, field testing, and forensic analysis to ensure all those linked to the shipment are brought to justice.
